Idyllic

I have always dreamt of an ideal community, where being different is encouraged and racism, religion and caste are the last of things that people care for. I have dreamt of that community where everybody lives in peace and harmony and people earn their position and aren’t born with it.

I have always dreamt of a community where forgiveness is man’s ultimate weapon, I may sound like a catholic preacher but be honest, haven’t you? But with bombings being a regular affair and murders, a daily doze will be ever be even a light year close to that community, to that style of living?

Why do we need to leave home every day in fear that we may come back raped, injured, beaten up or if we are unlucky enough, we may never come back at all. It reminds me when Antony said in Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar: “Blood and destruction shall be so in use, and dreadful objects so familiar, That mothers shall but smile when they behold their infants quartered with the hands of war, all pity choked with custom of fell deeds” (Modern text: “Blood and destruction will be so common and familiar that mothers will merely smile when their infants are cut to pieces by the hands of war. People’s capacity for sympathy will grow tired and weak from the sheer quantity of cruel deeds.”). What happened recently in Brussels is a perfect example. We clearly understand that terrorism, bombing, threatening will not solve any problems then why do they continue? Is it because humanity is at stake?

Are we reaching that era where we return to wild methods of uncivilized living and hunting and killing? Is time really turning back as infamous laws and prophecies stated? It is time we check on our humanity, our kindness, our love and affection. It is time we become better human beings.

What does your ideal community look like?

  1. Though true, but ultimately sad. However, it is evident that prayer is necessary to for God to help us in this world. We may desire change but we also have initiate change. The most formidable weapon for change is prayer first, and then action. We are called to pray for everyone, including our enemies.
